Tamara is our senior acupuncturist, having worked from The Centre for nearly 30 years.  She is also a practitioner of herbal medicine. Tamara trained at the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Leamington Spa, England graduating in 1986. She continued with studies in Paediatric Acupuncture under Julian Scott in 1987-88.  In 1992 she went on to study Chinese herbs with Michael McIntyre and Mazin Al-Khafiji. Tamara does on-going courses in Chinese medicine, alongside studying western herbs.

Tamara is a clinical supervisor and teacher at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM) in Reading. She works with students studying Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Five Element acupuncture.

Through her experience as a practitioner, Tamara has come to understand and appreciate the beneficial role of Chinese medicine in helping with mental, emotional and physical illnesses.  Every patient is diagnosed individually, and treatment is supportive for a wide range of conditions.

Working with her clients, Tamara has found that herbs with their cleansing, sustaining and nourishing qualities have a helpful effect alongside acupuncture. She may suggest taking Chinese or western herbs to support the treatments.

She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council and the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine.

Tamara is the author of three books on Herbal Medicine; her most recent is Herbs for the Soul: Emotional Healing with Chinese and Western Herbs.

“Tamara really treats you as an individual and seems to look deep into you to find what is really going on. She has really helped me.”
